This is a simple method for keeping the ways of the Sherline mill clean and free of swarf. Two pieces of damp-proof course (sort of thick flexible PVC rubber) are attached to the front and rear edges of the mill tooling plate using a variety of brackets. The rear cover is attached to the underside of the tooling plate. The front cover is attached ot a piece of aluminium angle, which in turn is screwed to the front edge of the tooling plate, making sure to keep everything below the top surface of the plate.
It does a pretty fair job, especially the front cover. The rear cover has a tendency to flop down over the table, but this could probably be fixed using a heat gun to soften and force the PVC to bend backwards.
