Someone recently commented on Hackaday that nail clippers make good wire strippers. I got a couple of cheap pairs, tried them out, and they certainly do! Here's a quick video:
They're great for smaller wires, where you're likely to mangle them by using normal automatic wire strippers. Obviously, if you use them for cutting wire as well, they will soon get nicked, but they're cheap enough that you can have half-a-dozen around.
Added later: I've now (Jan. 2014) been using them as both strippers and cutters, but so far they haven't shown any signs of blunting. They're great for snipping wires close to the underside of a PCB to enable a neat joint.
